Ads Custom Product Page How-To Guide That Developers Must Know

On December 8, 2021, Apple officially announced the launch of custom product pages (CPP), a new feature designed to help developers optimize their App product pages in the Apple App Store. With this new feature, marketers can create a more complete contextualized user experience, realizing “a thousand faces”. (Custom Product Pages are currently only available in the App Store on iOS15, iPadOS15 or later)




Customize the use of product page features:







Create and publish up to 35 different versions of App Store product pages in the App Store at the same time, with different promotional text, icons, app previews, screenshots, and videos designed to showcase certain features and content of the app.


Present product pages that cover different features or content to different user groups to increase conversion rates.


Create Today tags and search result ad materials for Apple Ads.


Unique URLs can be used to share CPPs through marketing communications, such as social media ads or promotional materials. Unique URL will add the new product page ID parameter to the default product page URL.




How to create [Customized Product Page] and what to consider?







1、There are 3 steps to create a customized product page!


①From “My App”, select your app, and under “Functions” in the left sidebar, click “Customized Product Page”, and then click “Create Customized Product Page”. Create Customized Product Page”. Click “ Create Customized Product Page ‘, then click ’ Create Customized Product Page ”, as shown in the picture below:

 ② Name the [Customized Product Page] and select whether to copy the original product page or create a blank customized product page.

‍③Upload the customized product page information, including name, app preview and screenshot, promotion text and other information, and choose to store or add for review.


And in this page, a link will be generated to promote the customized product page, which is convenient to jump to this page directly.


At the bottom of the page, there is an option to delete this product page, if the product page information is wrong or the campaign has expired, you can choose to delete it.

2, mention review [customized product page] 2 steps!


① All customized product pages need to be submitted to Apple for review, the material is reviewed before the promotion of user-defined product pages.


For materials placed in mainland China, the ad review requirements need to be considered;


For CPP for Today ad space, you need to consider the Today ad material review requirements:

② from the developer background of the [custom product page] function area, find the custom product page you want to submit for review, click submit to the App review, you can complete the custom product page review operation, and so on Apple review and approval will be able to use the page for promotion.

How is the effectiveness of [Customized Product Page] measured?




Once your custom product pages are live, you can measure their effectiveness in App Store Connect's App Analytics. Under the User Acquisition tab, you'll see the number of product page shows, downloads, re-downloads, and conversions to see how effective each page is at driving app downloads.


You can also see the user retention rate and average revenue per paid user for each customized product page. In addition, you can compare the effectiveness of custom product pages to default product pages and see if users who download your app from a custom product page interact longer or spend more on in-app purchases.

How do I associate a reviewed CPP to AppleAds?




Developers only need to carry out 3 steps in ASA background to complete the account association:


1. Log in to ASA background, click “Settings” in the account in the upper-right corner to enter the “Account Settings” page, find “User Management”, and select “Invite Users”. After clicking “Invite Users”, you need to fill in the information of the accounts with relevant privileges in the ASC backend, and select the newly added “Associated Accounts” option in “User Access Privileges and Roles”. Select the newly added “Associated Account” option in “User Access Rights and Roles” and click “Send Invitation”.




2、After sending the invitation, the Apple ID user who receives the invitation will receive an invitation email. After clicking “Receive Invitation”, the user will be redirected to the page for joining the account, enter the activation code in the email and click “Join” to confirm joining the account.

3、Click “Receive Invitation” to jump to the page of joining account, enter the activation code in the email, and click “Join” to confirm joining the account page will appear “Associate with App Store Connect”, click “Associated”. Click the “Linked” button to complete the linkage.

After successful association, enter ASA background, select the ad campaign group in the upper left corner, and then click “Settings”, you can view the associated App Store Connect accounts.

*Ps: If the invited Apple ID doesn't have the permission of App Store Connect account, the page “Developer Linked Account Not Found” will appear, so it's better to confirm whether the invited Apple ID has the permission before inviting.

Points for making CPP:







1, first of all, plan your goals: determine clear advertising goals before setting up ad group structure and ad variants, and plan and produce CPP according to the goals (search result ad positions can produce corresponding materials and build this type of ad group according to the established goals).


2. Selecting high-quality materials: Attracting users' attention and conveying key information through elements such as the background color, title, and images of the materials. For example, in the screenshot of a CPP, don't let go of multi-functions and elements; if there are many functions and elements, it can be split into different CPPs.


3、Choose the language: For the countries and regions where the ad campaign will be launched, the customized product page must be in the correct language.


4. Prepare for review in advance: Please create your ads and submit them for review as early as possible to help ensure that you have enough time to get them approved or to correct any issues found during the review in order to get the Today label ads in on time for a specific period of time. (For material placed in mainland China, consider the mainland China ad review requirements; for CPPs created for Today spots, consider the Today ad material review requirements.)
